Chancay Port is located about 80 kilometers north of Lima, the capital of Peru. It is a natural deep-water port. Construction started in 2011 and is expected to be completed in the first phase in November 2024. This will be the first port managed and operated by China in South America, and is expected to inject new vitality into the trade relations between South America and China, and become a new connection point and communication bridge for friendly economic and trade exchanges between China and Peru.

When completed, the Port of Chancay will be able to accommodate the world's largest cargo ships while shortening voyages to Asia by nearly two weeks for exporters sailing to Asia. According to the plan, it will grow into an important hub port in Latin America and a gateway port to the Pacific.

According to reports, Beijing and Lima also hope that the Port of Chancay can become a hub in Latin America, which can not only meet the copper export needs of Andean countries, but also meet the soybean exports of western Brazil. Until now, soybeans shipped from here to China had to pass through the Panama Canal or bypass the Atlantic Ocean.
